About Team Vivo
Team Vivo is the premiere small-group strength training fitness program designed specifically for adults 55 and older. Classes are delivered live and remotely so you can work out from the comfort of your own home. We focus on building strength while integrating stretching, balance and resistance exercises in a safe, engaging way designed to help you reach your goals.
As we age, our bodies naturally lose muscle mass, which can lead to falls, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and more. This can, in turn, lead to a lack of independence and a reduced quality of life. But there is something you can do about this! Consistently participating in a strength training program is scientifically proven to reverse age-related muscle loss and restore strength and functional abilities. Having a personalized program can be beneficial at any point in life, but that becomes increasingly important as we age. The Vivo program delivers small group personal training, allows for individual attention and customized workouts at a fraction of the price of one-on-one personal training, and provides the added benefit of exercising with a supportive community.
Vivo provides an opportunity for safe, supportive, individualized exercise and community-building when many gyms at this time are closed due to the coronavirus.
Vivo classes are offered 6 days/week (Monday thru Saturday) throughout the day. Our schedule is constantly evolving so please contact us if you’re inquiring about a certain day and time. We will do our best to accommodate your needs!
You have the choice of taking Vivo classes once, twice or three times per week. Each class is 45 minutes long. The science of strength training states that three times per week is ideal for increasing strength, twice per week is adequate, and once per week is more about maintenance. Based on your own needs, you can choose any of these options. Not sure which to choose? We are happy to talk to you and help you weigh the pros and cons of each option. The most important part is understanding your personal goals and deciding what it will take for you to get there.
In short – yes. Whether your fitness goals are ambitious or modest, whether you’re fit or sedentary, healthy or unhealthy, Vivo is for you. The Vivo program, delivered as small group personal training, allows for individual attention and customized workouts at a fraction of the price of one-on-one personal training, and provides the added benefit of exercising with a supportive community.

- Register and purchase a monthly package on the Vivo website. You’ll have the choice of taking Vivo classes once, twice, or three times per week. The science of strength training states that three times per week is ideal for increasing strength, twice per week is adequate, and once per week is more about maintenance Based on your own needs, you can choose any of these packages.
- Welcome! We’ll send you a welcome kit with resistance bands to use in your workout, a Vivo water bottle to keep you hydrated, and a soft tape measure to use during your assessment.
- Schedule an assessment to baseline your capabilities, capture any current issues, and discuss your goals. We will reassess you every 8 weeks to measure your progress and ensure you are working towards and meeting your goals.
- Schedule your weekly sessions. You can update this via our website or the Mindbody mobile app as needed.
You will receive an invite to your Vivo sessions with a Zoom link. At the time of your Vivo session, you’ll click the link and you’re off!
We do assessments for 2 reasons.
- To understand your capabilities so we know what to focus on as you begin training
- To serve as a baseline so that we can measure your progress through the program. Seeing how much stronger you’re getting and tracking your progress will serve as a fabulous motivator – we promise!
Think of assessments as a very short workout. You’ll schedule an appointment with one of our Vivo trainers and receive instructions ahead of time with the exercises that you will do during the assessment so that you can be prepared. These will be simple exercises, such as how many chair stands or bicep curls you can do in 30 seconds. We’ll also have a conversation about your goals, both short and long term. Once completed, you will receive a report showing your results. Fast forward 8 weeks and we’ll do the same thing again. This time, you will get a report highlighting your improvements. Be prepared to feel really good about yourself!
Personal training is great, but may not be an affordable option for everyone. Vivo can provide the same fitness benefits for a fraction of the cost of personal trainers. You’ll be a part of a community that encourages, supports, and holds you accountable. Not only will this inspire you to continue, but the additional social engagement of each class will ensure that you’re having fun and returning each week.
All exercise is encouraged, but as you age, having proper form is paramount to building strength and preventing injuries. To make real progress, muscles must be sufficiently challenged. In a group fitness class, there are typically too many people for an instructor to focus on each individual. As a result, a group fitness class is too easy for some and too hard for others. With Vivo, you get the social benefit of a group fitness class with the personalized attention from a certified trainer who will ensure that exercises are appropriately challenging and right for your level.
We’re pursuing this in the hope that it will be in the future. Stay tuned!

Our trainers are certified fitness instructors with a specialty in working with older adults. They’re some of our favorite people and we think you’re going to like them, too. Learn more about who they are and what makes them tick here.
Our goal is individualized instruction in a supportive community, so each class will have a maximum of six people.
Vivo can be done on your own by joining an existing group or by creating your own “team” with friends and family members. We’ve all experienced the increased motivation and accountability that comes from engaging in an activity with those we care about and who support us. We’re so convinced of the positive power of a community that if you encourage three of your friends or family members to join you and enroll as a team, each of you will receive one free month of Vivo and you will be able to set your own class schedule.
If you’re starting our fitness journey solo, we’ll pair with you with others at a similar fitness level based on your assessment. Our supportive trainers and small-group sessions are guaranteed to help you find a workout community that is right for you.
Vivo is an investment in your long-term health and independence and a fraction of the cost of one-on-one personal training. Click here for the current pricing.
If you need to miss a class, let us know 24 hours in advance and we will reschedule you for another day or time. We have classes available throughout the day, Monday through Saturday so there are plenty of options. If you need to miss a month or more, you can put your membership on hold and you will not be charged for those months.
You don’t need any! We’ll send you a welcome kit with two resistance bands that we’ll use in class and the rest will be done with body weight. It’s pretty amazing how our understanding of the science of exercise has evolved such that we can work every muscle in the body without the need for outside equipment.
The only thing you’ll need is a laptop or tablet to access the internet. Once you sign up you’ll receive a Zoom link for the virtual training sessions. You do not need any special exercise equipment. We’ll send you a welcome kit with resistance bands and a Vivo water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the classes. You’ll want to wear comfortable, rubber sole shoes, be in a space where there aren’t objects on the floor that you could trip over, and have a sturdy chair on hand with no wheels.
You don’t need experience in the gym, working with weights, or with bodyweight exercises. Can’t tell a lunge from a squat? Doesn’t matter. Our trainers are experts and will ensure you’re comfortable with each exercise. We want you to reach your goals. This is not a “no pain, no gain” zone. This is all about creating a supportive environment that will help you create habits for life.
We hear you. Vivo is personalized for everyone and we meet you at your level. We cap the sessions at 6 people to ensure that you will receive the individualized attention that you need to be successful. Our coaches are experts at modifying each move to ensure that it is an exercise that you can do and feel comfortable doing. Have an artificial knee or knee pain? We can change a squat into a chair stand. Still bothering you? We’ll put pillows down to make the chair higher. Your doctor will always be the authority on whether a strength training plan is right for you, and we recommend getting clearance from your doctor prior to starting Vivo if you are at all concerned.
Unless you are training AND eating for body building, you will not get bulky. It’s just not possible for most people of any age, and certainly not for older adults. Adding muscle mass means you will burn more calories at rest, which can translate into more fat burned, so you may lose fat, but we promise you will not look like the Incredible Hulk.
We understand that as we age, we lose strength, balance and sometimes our confidence. You may have a pre-existing condition or previous injury that limits your mobility. Our trainers understand these concerns and will work with you to identify strength exercises that are appropriately challenging. We have a limit of 6 people per session for this reason – to ensure our coaches can pay close attention to everyone. And although it may be counterintuitive, strength training makes you LESS likely to get injured, not more!
